In Memoriam:
Ken Wiley
June 21, 1960 - December 28, 1999
from the Austin American-Statesman, 12/30/99
Kenneth Lee Wiley Kenneth Wiley passed away
unexpectedly
on December 28, 1999, at the age of 39. Born June 21,
1960,
Kenney was proud to be a lifelong resident of Austin,
after
graduating from Crockett High School and Southwest
Texas
State University. After working for Safeway,
Appletree, and
Randall's stores, Kenney joined Frito Lay Route
Sales, where
he has earned a variety of achievement awards over
the last six
years. Kenney was preceded in death by his father,
Bobbie Lee
Wiley. He is survived by his wife and soul- mate,
Kelli, and
their two beautiful children, Kyle, ten years and
Kendall, seven
years; mother, Mary Lou Wiley; brother, Gary Wiley
and wife,
Debbie; nephew, Chad and niece, Heather. Kenney
leaves a
legacy of love and devotion to those who knew his
humor,
goodwill, and commitment to family. As father, son,
brother,
uncle, friend, and coach, Kenney's entire life was
centered on
doing the best for his family and friends. This focus
often
included an assortment of trips, including the skiing
and camping
that Kenney loved best, along with the beach and the
theme
parks that he tolerated with a grin for the kids.
Kenney's love
was most obvious, though, in the day-to-day
opportunities he
found to show his affection. Whether cooking a
favorite meal,
coaching a sports team, or helping build a new school
project,
there was never a doubt about Kenney's goal, to make
a better
life for Kendall, Kyle, and Kelli, and often their
extended family
and friends. Kenney and Kelli built a family whose
strength will
be a pillar for their children in all of their future
endeavors.
Kenney's hero was John Wayne, and now they ride the
wind
together. Kenney's presence will always be felt in
the wind, the
sun, and the stars; and his love will remain in the
hearts of all he
touched. The funeral service will be held at 2:00
p.m. on
Thursday, December 30, 1999 at Bethany Lutheran
Church
with Pastors Walter Harms and William Knippa
officiating.
Interment to follow at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks
Memorial
